Our Charity

St John & St Elizabeth Hospital is a charity, meaning that every time you visit us for treatment, you are helping to fund our on-site Hospice, St. John’s.

Profits from our world-renowned Hospital go towards providing free specialist palliative care to over 4, 500 patients and their families each year. Patients receive the support and treatment they need in a safe and secure environment, and receive the very highest standards of care.

Every appointment supports
our on-site Hospice

Our on-site Hospice provides palliative and respite care for more than 4,500 local patients and their families every year, for free.

Inpatient unit

The Hospice inpatient unit houses 18 beds for patients living with complex terminal illnesses and those who need 24-hour care. For more than 30 years this unit has served seven London boroughs.

Day care centre

The Hospice day care centre provides palliative care, complementary therapies, resources and activity support groups for patients and bereaved relatives.

Our Hospice@Home service extends care provided by our Hospice to those who want to remain at home, in familiar and comfortable surroundings during the later stages of their illness.

Hospice Nursing

Our ethos

As a charity, we must operate on a not-for-profit basis and our assets are used for charitable purposes.

We need your help to continue providing the best possible care and support to our patients and their loved ones. Without the generosity and commitment of our supporters, we could not continue to care for more than 4,500 patients every year in our day centre, residential unit, and in their own homes, or to support the friends and family of our patients.

The St John and St Elizabeth Charity is a registered charity in England and Wales under charity number 235822. Its corporate trustee is The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth; a registered company limited by guarantee under number 2808390 and registered charity number 1020916 in England and Wales, whose registered office is 60 Grove End Road, London NW8 9NH.

Support our Hospice

As a charitable Hospital our profits are reinvested into our on-site Hospice, St John’s. Every year the Hospice provides palliative and respite care to over 4,000 patients and their families in the local community, for free. Without your support, we would not be able to support patients and their loved ones through some of their most vulnerable times. There are many ways you can help, find out how.
St John's Hospice Funding

Make a donation

St John’s Hospice relies on almost £2 million every year in donations and fundraising. Every donation counts – visit the website to discover just how much of a difference a donation can make to the patients and families that we care for.

Without the help of those who raise funds for our Hospice, we wouldn’t be able to provide end-of-life and respite care to those at their most vulnerable, completely free of charge. If you’re up for a challenge, set yourself a target and get involved!

Become a volunteer

Volunteers are the beating heart of our Hospice. Something as simple as dedicating your time can help us to provide exemplary levels of care and give wholehearted support to our patients and their families.
