Plastic surgeons have the techniques and ability to return the body to restore or improve appearance. Reconstructive facial surgery can be used on a wide range of conditions that are divided into two categories.
Congenital: conditions present from birth.
Acquired: conditions caused by disease – such as cancer – accident or injury, including burns.
Congenital conditions range from cleft lip and palate through vascular abnormalities, such as birthmarks, and craniofacial deformities which can impact any part of the face and skull.
Surgeons employ skin grafts and flaps, precise re-sectioning of bones and soft tissue reconstruction to produce life-changing outcomes for patients with both congenital and acquired conditions. They are also skilled at managing disease conditions such as arthritis and Dupuytren’s Contracture.
Surgeons can repair bones and tissue and enhance facial features in operations that range from the simple to the complex. Most are performed under general anaesthesia and recovery times are dependent on the amount of reconstruction performed.
Techniques have advanced significantly over the last 20 years and reconstructive surgery is highly effective at improving function and enhancing well-being.

Our Appointments Team have a dedicated and caring approach to finding you the earliest appointment possible with the best specialist.
If you are self-paying you don’t need a referral from your GP for a consultation. You can simply refer yourself* and book an appointment.
If you have health insurance (e.g. Bupa, Axa Health, Aviva), you will need to contact your insurer to get authorisation before any treatment, and in most cases you will also require a referral letter from your GP.
If you are not registered with a GP, we have an in-house private GP practice you can use. Alternatively, we can suggest the most appropriate course of action for you to take, given your location and individual circumstances.
*Please note – for investigations such as X-rays and MRIs, a referral will be required. However, we may be able to arrange this for you through our on-site private GP.
