Dr Shabbir Moochhala
Biography
Dr Shabbir Moochhala is a Consultant Nephrologist and Physician. His practice includes all aspects of nephrology, chronic kidney disease and dialysis medicine, for out-patients and in-patients. He is also an accredited general physician and is experienced at performing ultrasound-guided native renal biopsies.
He has a specialist interest in rare renal diseases including Fabry nephropathy and renal tubular disease, and sub-specialises in metabolic screening for urinary tract stone disease. Dr Shabbir Moochhala PhD research focused on the mechanisms of formation of calcium renal stones, and he now leads a clinical research programme into prevention of kidney stone disease.
He is interested in helping his patients to understand their own medical condition and what they can do themselves to assist their treatment plan.
