Mr Rudge is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Mr. Rudge’s surgical interest is the treatment of all aspects of foot and ankle pathology. He offers a full range of treatments for conditions such as Hallux Valgus (bunions) / Hallux Rigidus (arthritis) and lesser toe deformities. He also treats degenerative foot and ankle conditions including arthritis of the midfoot and hindfoot alongside degenerative tendon conditions such as Tibialis Posterior tendinopathy.
He offers treatments for sports injuries including lateral ligament reconstruction and ankle arthroscopy. He works alongside orthotists and physiotherapists to offer a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of foot and ankle conditions.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and a member of the British Medical Association.
He is also the Clinical Lead for Foot and Ankle Surgery at West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust having previously been the Clinical Director of their Orthopaedic Department and the College Tutor for Surgery overseeing all surgical training in the Trust.
- Mr. Rudge qualified from St. George’s Hospital Medical School in 1999
- He spent a year working in Perth, Western Australia, before returning to a basic surgical training in London
- Specialist orthopaedic training on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital rotation and a UK advanced training fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery
- Further experience inthe management of complex lower limb trauma at th Royal London Hospital
Mr Rudge is a family man, married with two daughters. He is a keen, classically trained musician (having been a music scholar and bassoonist in a past life) and is now an avid player, builder and collector of guitars and amplifiers. He plays in a covers band with like-minded colleagues raising money for various charities; this has provided some amazing opportunities with the 2023 headline performance at The Cavern Club in Liverpool remaining a particular highlight. The band has so far raised over £20,000 for charity.
His other passions include both film and digital photography and red wine. He continues to enjoy supporting rugby and cricket.
