Mr Raymond Anakwe is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon and a serving medical officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps of the British Army. He served at home and on operations as the Regimental Medical Officer to 1st Battalion The Black Watch and as a surgeon in a deployed field hospital in Europe, North America, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan. He undertook basic and higher surgical training in South East Scotland based around Edinburgh, Fife and the Borders. Mr Anakwe’s higher surgical training has been in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
During his training Mr Raymond Anakwe spent two years in the Edinburgh Trauma Unit where he gained a broad experience in the management of complex fractures and the assessment and surgical management of patients with multiple injuries. Over the course of his training, Mr Anakwe had the opportunity to develop an interest and broad experience in trauma care and particularly, elective and trauma surgery related to the hand, wrist and elbow including adult and paediatric on call duties.
Mr Raymond Anakwe’s sub-specialist fellowship training has given him further experience in the full range of trauma, elective, reconstructive and arthroplasty surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow. He completed a fellowship post as an Upper Limb Fellow at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and a second fellowship post at Wrightington Hospital as well as visiting fellowships to specialist centres in North America and South Africa. He taught at various levels and have successfully designed, completed, presented and published original research in a number of forums.
