Miss Joy Odili is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at St George’s Hospital, London. Miss Odili’s special interests are skin cancer, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the ear and breast, and vascular malformations.

She graduated from Glasgow University in 1994. She underwent 4 years of basic surgical training, followed by 2 years of clinical research into malignant melanoma at the renowned RAFT Institute of Plastic Surgery, Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood.

She was awarded a Hunterian Professorship for her research in 2002 by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and a Masters Degree (MD) by the University of London. Eight years of plastic surgery training were obtained at Mount Vernon Hospital, St Andrews Centre Broomfield, The Royal Free Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and St Thomas Hospital, London.

Special interests were developed with fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital in Paediatric plastic surgery and the London Clinic in aesthetic surgery. She obtained accreditation in plastic surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons FRCS (Plast) in 2008. She was appointed to a consultant post at St George’s Hospital in 2009.

As part of her day-to-day work she is regularly involved in the teaching of medical students as well as post-graduate junior doctors. She is part of the Government Skin Cancer Taskforce. She is a member of the Royal College of Surgeoens, the British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS), and the Melanoma Study Group (MSG).
