Mr Dimitrios Tsekes can provide a full comprehensive Shoulder and Elbow service for degenerate disease and sports injuries, promoting good medical practice. His approach to the patient is holistic and multidisciplinary, working close with Orthopaedic consultants and other skilled health professionals, to provide a caring and evidence-based treatment to his patients.
Mr Tsekes holds a substantive post as “Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant” in Basildon University Hospital specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery.
He is passionate about medical training and teaching and was awarded with the ”Trainer of the year” award for 2022, from the Royal London Hospital Orthopaedic and Trauma Society (RLHOTS).
As “Unit Training Director and Research Lead “for the Orthopaedic Department in Basildon Hospital, he received the award for best orthopaedic department for trainees in the RLHOTS rotation for 2022. He structures and runs courses on Upper Limb Surgery while being a member of faculty for shoulder arthroscopic and replacement surgery cadaveric labs, in UK and France.
He has completed two substantive Upper Limb Fellowships; in Royal Free London focusing on shoulder arthroplasty and arthroscopies, and in Royal London Hospital focusing on Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist and Hand complex trauma as well as elective Upper Limb Surgery.
He graduated from the University of Athens Medical School in 2003. During his specialist orthopaedic training, he acquired experience and skills in the whole spectrum of Orthopaedics, obtaining the Fellow of European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (FEBOT) and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) diplomas. In 2009 he obtained his MSc in “Metabolic Bone Disorders” from University of Athens Medical School.
Throughout his Orthopaedic career Mr Tsekes has completed research, published articles in peer reviewed journals and has numerous presentations in Orthopaedic meetings in national and international level.
