Kapil Sahnan is an experienced colorectal surgeon based in London. He works at St Mark’s Hospital, the UK’s National Bowel Hospital, and runs a tertiary referral practice specialising in proctology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). He co-leads the hospital’s IBD robotic program and hosts numerous international trainees and visitors annually.

Kapil completed his undergraduate and postgraduate training at Imperial College London, and has undertaken further training in Oxford, Bristol, and Barcelona, where he completed the prestigious European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) fellowship in robotic colorectal cancer surgery.

He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London, supervising PhD students. He also serves on the ESCP Education Committee, where he leads the international fellowship programme for pelvic floor conditions (including prolapse, bowel disturbances, and faecal incontinence). Additionally, he organises the annual Training Village, focusing on laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as abdominal wall reconstructions and hernias.

Kapil also teaches on the ACPGBI’s National Proctology Roadshow, covering topics such as anal fistulas, laser surgery, anal fissures, haemorrhoids (piles), pruritus ani (persistent anal itching), and anal lesions (skin tags and AIN).

He has built an international reputation and is recognised as a global key opinion leader with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Finally, he serves as an editor of Colorectal Surgery for Frontline Gastroenterology, the official journal of the British Society of Gastroenterologists.
