Mr Leye Ajayi is an internationally recognised Consultant Urological Surgeon with extensive expertise in minimally invasive urological surgery. He was the clinical lead at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust in London for 7 years and is the Clinical Lead for the Kidney Stone Service. His specialist stone practice includes the management of complex kidney stones using contemporary minimally invasive techniques, including percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), laser technology and lithotripsy.
Mr Ajayi’s wider general urology practice encompasses andrology, urinary incontinence, rapid-access prostate assessment and the investigation of haematuria (blood in the urine).
Mr Ajayi has an international reputation for his expertise in Aquablation therapy for benign prostate disease. He regularly teaches and demonstrates the technology to urologists from the UK, Europe and beyond. He lectures internationally and is a Principal Investigator in clinical research investigating the potential applications of Aquablation therapy in prostate cancer.
Mr Ajayi undertook his medical education and specialist urological training at several leading teaching hospitals in London before completing fellowship training in Brisbane, Australia. He was awarded an MD for his research into the molecular biology of prostate cancer, reflecting his longstanding commitment to clinical research and innovation in urology.
An active member of the European Association of Urology (EAU) Section of Endourology, he is regularly involved in education, lectures and performing live surgery in the international arena helping to share advances in endourology with colleagues worldwide.
Mr Ajayi is Course Director for national and international masterclasses in complex stone disease. He has served as a moderator for Journal of Endourology podcasts on stone disease and has contributed as faculty to international educational programmes, including the Société Internationale d’Urologie (SIU) Grand Round on controversies in urinary stone management and upper-tract urothelial tumours.
Mr Ajayi serves on the Editorial Board of the World Journal of Urology and acts as a reviewer for leading international urological journals, including the American Journal of Urology and the British Journal of Urology International (BJU International).
Through his combination of clinical expertise, surgical innovation, research and international education, Mr Ajayi is able to translate this knowledge and surgical skills in ensuring his patients received excellent care.
