Mr William Van Niekerk is registered with the General Medical Council and it also a full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS). He has extensive experience in the cosmetic side of plastic surgery specialising in all Breast procedures as well as in abdominoplasty, liposuction, labiaplasty, blepharoplasty and otoplasty.
Mr William Van Niekerk graduated in 1996 with the degree MB ChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery). He continued his postgraduate medical training at the University of Oxford (Trinity College), and his formal surgical training on the Oxford Basic Surgical Rotation. In August 2002 Mr Van Niekerk was granted a commission in the Royal Air Force, after which he was appointed as Registrar (2003) and then Specialist Registrar (2004) in Plastic Surgery at the world-renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Centre in Glasgow. He passed the Intercollegiate Specialty Examinations and was awarded the FRCS (Plastic Surgery) in 2009.
In the same year he also joined St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, one of the busiest plastic surgery centres in Europe. He first worked as Microsurgery Fellow, then as Fellow in Burn Surgery, and finally as locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon. Mr Van Niekerk was appointed Military Trauma Fellow at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham in February 2010, and then Consultant in the Trauma, Burns, and Plastic Surgery services.
UK Professional Body Memberships he is associated with include Specialist Register of the General Medical Council , British Burn Association (BBA), European Burn Association (EBA), British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
