When should my child see a paediatric urologist?
You may wish to arrange an appointment with a children’s urologist if your child experiences:
- Any kidney anomalies diagnosed in pregnancy such as hydronephrosis, cystic or duplex kidneys or abnormal genitalia
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Persistent bedwetting or daytime wetting
- Difficulty passing urine or changes in urinary habits such as frequency and urgency
- Swelling around the testicles or scrotum
- Undescended testicle(s)
- Tight or painful foreskins or recurrent infections
- Ongoing bladder discomfort or urinary symptoms
- A urinary or genital condition requiring specialist assessment such as hypospadias, chordee, buried penis or labial adhesions in girls
