Eyesight saving surgery at St John & St Elizabeth Hospital – Patient’s Journey Transcript

Suddenly I realized I was losing my vision in my left eye.

I contacted another hospital and I went to the A&E there. They told me that there are different kind of retinal detachments and the type you have is one of the worst one.

I was told “we don’t know when we shall operate on you, but at some moment in time in the future. Just now I cannot say when and we shall put your name on the waiting list.” And I felt… of course I had to do something. Because I knew that time was vision.

I found a website where Mr Jason Ho was there. And he told me two things. The first thing is: “we must meet today in the evening.” And then he told me “These things needed to be operated on so I’m planning an emergency surgery (for you) tonight.”

He did the surgery around 1am and then I left the hospital in the early morning. I met him again for you know the post-op checks.

I would definitely recommend the St John & St Elizabeth Hospital. Experiencing the vision coming back gradually with something incredibly astonishing. That is the thing I am most grateful for.
