Safeguarding Statement

St John & St Elizabeth Hospital is committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of every patient in our care, including adults, children and young people. Our teams work to recognised national legislation and guidance, and we maintain clear procedures to identify, respond to and escalate safeguarding concerns.

Our Chief Nursing Officer is the hospital’s Safeguarding Lead for Children and Adults. She is supported by designated Deputy Leads, as well as Named Doctors who provide specialist safeguarding support across both areas.

These roles provide advice, support good practice and oversee our safeguarding policies and training. All staff complete regular safeguarding training and the hospital follows safe recruitment standards, including Disclosure and Barring Service checks where appropriate. Safeguarding supervision is available to all staff.

We work closely with local authorities, multi-agency safeguarding partners and other healthcare organisations to ensure patients are protected from abuse, neglect, exploitation or harm. We hold regular Safeguarding Committee meetings, and ensure we meet our responsibilities in areas such as Prevent, child exploitation, FGM and mental capacity.

If you have a concern about the safety of a patient, please contact our Duty Manager by calling 020 7806 4000.
