St John & St Elizabeth Hospital is proud to introduce Aquablation Therapy, an innovative treatment for patients suffering with an enlarged prostate, also known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).

Aquablation Therapy differs from other prostate procedures as it uses a heat-free water jet to remove excess prostate tissue and improve urinary symptoms. By using robotic technology together with real-time imaging, the risk of side effects is greatly reduced compared to traditional prostate surgery.

Consultant Urological Surgeon Mr Leye Ajayi, who performed the first Aquablation Therapy procedure at the hospital, had this to share:

“We are excited to have Aquablation Therapy for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) at St John & St Elizabeth Hospital. The procedure uses cutting-edge robotic technology which is both precise and minimally invasive. Compared to other surgical modalities, Aquablation Therapy significantly reduces the risk of affecting continence, ejaculatory, and sexual function.”

Simon James, CEO of St John & St Elizabeth Hospital, expressed his enthusiasm for the new service:

“We are delighted to introduce Aquablation Therapy at St John & St Elizabeth Hospital. This innovative treatment reflects our commitment to delivering safe, outstanding, quality care to our community. Patients will benefit greatly from this new service which complements our existing Urology Practice.”
