The Breast Unit at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth consists of a multi disciplinary team led by leading Consultants and nurses who are dedicated to providing ultimate standards of care with swift diagnosis and treatment of breast conditions.
Every woman’s breasts are different so get to know yours and how they feel at different times of the month as this can change throughout your menstrual cycle. Get to know what is normal for you and you will be more aware of any changes that occur. You may find it easiest to check your breasts in the bath or shower as part of your routine.
It’s important to seek medical advice if you notice a change in your breasts, however small you think it may be. Look out for a change in the shape, size or outline of the breast. Feel for lumps or bumps that may have not been there before and remember to also feel under your armpit. Look out for changes in your nipple position or if you notice any blood or unusual discharge.
If you notice a change in your breasts, whatever your age or family history, make an appointment to see a specialist. The Breast Unit at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth provides you with instant appointments with same day imaging and tests if required.
