Tendonitis is most commonly caused by activities that require repetitive lifting the leg and turning it out at the hip, such as gymnastics, ballet and sports that require a lot of high kicking. Others at risk of tendonitis are older people who have an uneven or unsteady walk and long-distance runners who have been running on hills or increasing their distance too quickly.
