Biography

Dr Basil Almahdi is a London-based doctor, specialising in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia. He received his medical degree in 1997 and then continued onto University College Hospital, where he trained in Pain Management as a Fellow at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Dr Basil Almahdi then went on to Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and The Pain Management Centre at University College Hospital where he was a Locum Consultant. There he broadened his experience in managing complex spinal pain problems.

He has a particular interest in chronic pain syndromes, treatment of post-operative pain, palliative treatments for cancer pain and neuropathic pain. In addition to this, he is interested in the minimally invasive treatment of problems caused by degenerative spinal disease including disc herniation, spinal stenosis and radiculopathies.

An avid teacher, he has lectured nationally and internationally in the field of Pain and Anaesthesia. Dr Almahdi is fluent in English and Arabic. His approach to patient care has an emphasis on empowering his patients and making sure the needs of each individual is met with a considered and specific treatment plan for pain.
